Port Moody’s railway story is not confined to a timetable. The POMO Museum occupies the city’s 1908 Canadian Pacific Railway station, a building that now helps visitors imagine arrivals, departures and the everyday work around the tracks.

The old station became a museum after local volunteers spent years caring for artifacts and the building. Inside, the railway provides a starting point for a much wider account of people and industries around the inlet. Nearby, PoMoArts occupies another historic civic building, making an arts-and-heritage outing possible in one neighbourhood.

When you visit, look past the romance of the train. Ask how rail travel connected families and businesses, and how Port Moody changed when its expected role as a terminus changed. Check the museum’s current hours and exhibitions before you go.
